About the shop
On December 23, 2006, after teaming up with Daniel Stagner to open Animal Trax in historic downtown Madison, Alabama, David Ballard's dream of one day owning a pet store became a reality. As a former teacher within the Decatur City School System, David's love for the alternative pets became the focus at Animal Trax which specializes in reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids. Realizing that not everyone shares our enthusiasm for the cold-blooded, we also have a variety of small animals and support materials including hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, caging, and accessories, as well as a gift shop for the animal lover who seeks trinkets, gifts, or collectibles without the responsibility of caring for a living critter.
All of the staff at Animal Trax share a deep respect for animals and strive to make Animal Trax the best little shop in North Alabama. With the dedication of the team and outstanding support of all our customers, Animal Trax continues to grow.
